Popular devices for field service technicians

Which mobile device platforms are the most popular for service technicians?  Corrigo’s research shows service technicians using the Intuit Field Service Management app on their mobile device prefer Apple devices to Android devices, roughly two to one.  The following data is for the period Dec. 27, 2012 – Jan. 3, 2013.

Apple = 58% of mobile technicians;
Android  = 30%;
Blackberry = 11%;
Windows Mobile =  1%

devices

Among those using Apple devices, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S account for over half the Apple devices.

We saw a great variety of Android devices: 170 different devices!  The most popular device is the rugged CASIO C771, which accounted for 10% of all devices.  The four most popular Android devices are:

  • C771, CASIO, 10%
  • DROID RAZR, 7%
  • Motorola Xoom, 4.5%
  • Samsung SCH-I800 4.5%

Notes regarding this data:  The data only counts those techs who logged into the Field Service Management app during the date range and does not include techs who were already logged into the app and remained logged in during the entire period.
